Brown Family Medicine residents are well prepared to provide full-spectrum care in diverse settings from community health centers to academic medicine to the Indian Health Service.

Our comprehensive curriculum prepares our residents to holistically care for underserved populations. 

PGY-1 Blocks

Pawtucket Warwick
FMIS: 13 weeks @ The Miriam Hospital FMIS: 12 weeks @ Kent Hospital

FMOB: 8 weeks at Women & Infants Hospital
(includes significant newborn care)

FMOB: 8 weeks @ Kent Hospital
Ortho: 2 weeks Inpatient Cardiology: 2 weeks
Emergency Medicine: 2 weeks @ Kent Hospital Emergency Medicine: 4 weeks @ Kent Hospital
PCMH: 4 weeks @ FCC Practice Management: 4 weeks
Clinic: 3 weeks @ FCC Newborn Nursery: 2 weeks
Community Medicine: 4 weeks @ FCC NICU: 2 weeks
   
Both Sites
Elective: 4 weeks
Inpatient Pediatrics @ Hasbro Children’s Hospital: 4 weeks
Outpatient Pediatrics: 4 weeks
Orientation Block: 4 weeks

Night Float: 2 weeks @The Miriam Hospital Night Float: 4 weeks @ Kent Hospital
FMOB: 8 weeks @ Women & Infants Hospital FMOB: 4 weeks @ Kent Hospital
ICU: 4 weeks @ The Miriam Hospital ICU: 4 weeks @ Kent Hospital 
PCMH: 4 weeks @ FCC Practice Management: 2 weeks @Thundermist
Coverage/Clinic: 4 weeks (Inpatient/FMOB/Clinic/Vacation) Community Medicine: 4 weeks
Outpatient Cardiology: 2 weeks Sports Medicine: 4 weeks
Scholarly Development: 4 weeks Scholarly Development: 2 weeks

PGY-3 Blocks

The Warwick site has a longitudinal FMOB track. Third-year residents in Pawtucket with an interest in FMOB can choose to trade out Medicine blocks in order to gain proficiency in their preferred area.

Urology: 4 weeks Urology/Ophthalmology: 4 weeks
Derm/ENT/Ophthalmology: 4 weeks Derm/ENT: 4 weeks
PCMH: 4 weeks @ FCC Practice Management: 4 weeks @Thundermist
Coverage/Clinic: 4 weeks (Inpatient/FMOB/Clinic/Vacation) Clinic/FMIS: 4 weeks @ Thundermist and Kent Hospital
Ortho/Rheum: 4 weeks Ortho/Rheum: 4 weeks
Both Sites
Elective: 12 weeks
