Dr. Kyle Flattery Recognized as an Emerging Leader by the Family Medicine Education Consortium

Congratulations to Kyle Flattery, MD, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Clinician Educator, who was recognized as an Emerging Leader by the Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC). Each year the FMEC awards recognize individuals for their work to advance family medicine and primary care in the region and nationally.

The FMEC Emerging Leader award seeks to identify, encourage and support promising family medicine senior residents, junior faculty and clinicians in practice (three years or less experience) who have the potential to be future leaders in family medicine academic and community service efforts.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Flattery joined the faculty in 2024 after completing a fellowship in Clinical Ultrasound at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard College before graduating medical school from New York Medical College in 2020. Prior to his fellowship, Flattery completed family medicine residency at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Flattery is committed to expanding the role of Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) within family medicine, locally at Brown and at the national level. He hopes to share this expanding skill set with all learners in medical school, residency and beyond.

Flattery will be honored with the award at the 2026 FMEC Annual Meeting in Atlantic City, NJ, Sept. 24-26.
