Carolyn earned her undergraduate degree in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2011 and her medical degree from Loma Linda University in 2018. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Ventura County Medical Center in 2021. Carolyn subsequently joined the Department of Family Medicine at Brown University as a Global Health Faculty Development Fellow in 2021 and completed her fellowship and Master of Public Health degree at Brown in 2023. She currently practices full spectrum family medicine at Blackstone Valley Community Health Care in Pawtucket and Central Falls, Rhode Island as the medical director for family medicine-obstetrics. She is also an attending physician on the Family Medicine- Obstetrics Teaching Service at Women and Infants Hospital.
She spends two months of the year abroad with the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH), currently one of the largest academic global health collaborations. Currently, she co-leads the monitoring and evaluation efforts for AMPATH POCUS, the largest global multi-use POCUS implementation to date. Clinically, her interests include obstetrics, global health and point of care ultrasound. Her research centers on implementation science and mixed methodology. Prior work has included specialist supported primary care models in delivery of obstetrical care and point of care ultrasound education and use in primary care and inpatient settings.
