Jennifer Howe, DO

Assistant Professor, Clinician Educator, She/Her

Biography

Hi there, my name is Jenny and I am so excited to be joining as a new member of the Brown FM team! On my interview day, the compassion and inclusivity at Brown was palpable when I spoke with residents and faculty, as well as demonstrated through the curriculum. I am moving back to the East Coast after spending some time on the West Coast and in the Southwest! I grew up in Newton, MA and went to Boston College where I studied Biology. I then shipped out to Berkeley, CA where I worked on the production team at a cactus nursery and as a research assistant on a smoking-cessation project at UCSF. I made the natural transition from cacti to Google Glass in 2016 when I started working for a San Francisco start-up called Augmedix, which provides remote scribing services using Google Glass for audio and visual input.

After 3 great years on the West Coast, I packed up my bags and cat, Chilli, and headed to Arizona where I attended Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. During medical school, I joined our Medical Students For Choice chapter and further developed my passion for reproductive rights and abortion access in leadership roles and as an extern in MSFC’s Reproductive Health Externship program. I also had a blast as president of the LGBTQ+ club at Midwestern developing a social presence on campus, as well as spearheading curriculum reform for our clinical medicine course. I am so happy to be continuing to pursue these interests and many more at Brown!.
