Dr. Will Dixon Honored as Kent Hospital’s 2025 Pawtucket Campus Doctor of the Year

The Brown Department of Family Medicine is proud to announce that Will Dixon, MD has been named the 2025 Doctor of the Year for the Kent Hospital Pawtucket Campus.

Dr. Thomas Wold, Chief Medical Officer at Kent Hospital, shared excerpts from the letters nominating Dr. Dixon as Pawtucket Doctor of the Year:

  • This physician started as the Medical Director at the Family Care Center in September 2023, and in the last 18 months, he has made a tremendous impact on the clinic, the staff, the faculty, and, especially, the patients.
  • He not only provides great care, but he actively promotes operational and organizational improvements to enhance care provided by others. His growth mindset and patient care focused goals make him my nomination.
  • He has made an indelible impact at the Family Care Center, where he has been the medical director for fewer than two years. In a clinic with over 50 providers, his tireless efforts have been essential to providing the best care for our patients.
  • He is a role model for others, offering guidance and support to colleagues and helping to foster a positive, collaborative environment. He maintains open lines of communication with both residents and staff in the clinic creating a culture where everyone feels heard and respected. He recognizes the challenges of a busy shift or understanding the stress a team member might be facing.
  • His empathy helps build a supportive atmosphere-improved processes for access to focused clinics  such as behavioral health and sports medicine.
  • He maintains open lines of communication with both residents and staff in the clinic creating a culture where everyone feels heard and respected.
  • He is a strong advocate for the patients at the FCC. He works tirelessly to ensure that we are doing everything possible to meet their often extensive and challenging needs. From day one, he has been working with faculty, staff, administration and leadership to develop protocols for the FCC, which have consistently improved the functioning of the clinic. He truly partners with everyone to ensure that we are doing the best we can for the community.
  • As a colleague, he is easy to work with. He is kind and thoughtful and has a great sense of humor. He is a leader who appreciates and respects everyone who works at the Family Care Center, and he holds everyone - including and especially himself - to a high standard.
  • He is an extraordinary leader.  He is mission focused on providing excellent care to the most needed of patients and also educating the next generation of physicians.
  • What I admire and appreciate the most about him is that he doesn’t have to do everything he does. He could be a good Medical Director by doing about half of what he’s doing every day. But instead he consistently goes above and beyond. He absolutely embodies the Kent Way, and I’m proud to nominate him for Pawtucket Doctor of the Year.
  • Oh yeah, and he is a great teacher and his patients love him too!

Congratulations, Dr. Dixon!
