Odinaka Anyanwu Named Emerging Leader by Family Medicine Education Consortium
Congratulations to Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine Odinaka Anyanwu, MD who has been named an Emerging Leader by the Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC). Each year the FMEC awards recognize individuals for their work to advance family medicine and primary care in the region and nationally.
The FMEC Emerging Leader award seeks to identify, encourage and support promising family medicine senior residents, junior faculty and clinicians in practice who have the potential to be future leaders in family medicine academic and community service efforts.
Dr. Anyanwu is the Assistant Director of the Global Health Fellowship at Brown University, joining the faculty after completing the Brown Family Medicine Global Health/Maternal Child Health fellowship. Anyanwu received her degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.
Her interests include women’s health, health equity and Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS). She is actively involved in faculty development, medical student mentorship and anti-racism work. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and learning the Igbo language.
Anyanwu, along with Dr. Stacy Bartlett from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency, will be honored with the Emerging Leader award at the 2024 FMEC Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA.
