Majid Lahijani, MD
Biography
My parents emigrated from Iran to the United States and instilled an importance in education and empathy in my siblings and me. My interest in medicine began early in my life, as I looked up to my father who was a respected anesthesiologist at Women & Infants Hospital for decades. When I was 15 years old, I volunteered in the transport department and in the ER of Kent Hospital. It was during this time that my passion for medicine began to blossom, as I was able to indirectly be a part of someone’s healthcare experience. I took a long, circuitous path, working in different parts of the country and also taking care of my mother who was ill, which exposed me to a completely different side of medicine. Eventually I matched at a residency program at the University of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where I completed my intern year. Working at the US/Mexico border, I was exposed to a population that provided me with an invaluable experience I would not have had anywhere else. I decided to transfer to the Brown University/Kent Hospital program to serve my community and to be closer to my family. Having previous experiences at Brown University and at Kent Hospital, I knew it would be a perfect match for me. I look forward to being a part of this renowned residency program and to gain new perspectives from the community.
In my free time, I like to cook, paint, play the guitar, exercise, read, tinker with technology, try out new restaurants, visit museums, travel, and spend time with my family and friends.
