Manna Job, DO
Biography
From Kerala, India to now Rhode Island, my journey has been anything but predictable. “Where will you be in the next 10 years?” was not a question I answered correctly. I found myself in the picturesque State University of New York at Oswego and then Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Along my journey, I realized that I would like to train at a residency program where I can combine my interest in community service with my growing medical knowledge to expand care beyond the four walls of the hospital. As an immigrant who experienced marginalized health care myself, it was important for me to choose a program that focuses on providing exemplary care for minorities from all walks of life. I was honoured when I received an opportunity to train at Brown Family Medicine, as the program embodies this quality. Prioritization of holistic care with a focus on full spectrum family medicine, women’s health and global health are some of the many enticing factors. Through passionate conversations with residents and faculty regarding advocacy, education and teamwork, a sincere commitment to service was evident. Each interaction was filled with enthusiasm, kindness and an immense sense of support. I was overwhelmed by the genuine sense of family and belonging that was present during my visit to the program.
As the best medications comprise of laughter, love, good diet and exercise, I hope that even during these strenuous years of residency, I am able to find balance in my life. Along with my passion for medicine, I hope to cultivate my hobbies such as painting, reading, traveling, hiking, exploring new cuisines while surrounding myself with my loved ones.
