Mary Beth Sutter, MD, FAAFP
Biography
Mary Beth Sutter is the Academic Director of Family Medicine Obstetrics and sees patients at the Family Care Center, with deliveries at Women & Infants Hospital. She graduated from residency at the Brown University/ Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island Family Medicine Residency in 2013. She then went on to complete a 2 year fellowship in Maternal, Child, and Reproductive Health at the University of New Mexico from 2013-2015. She joined the faculty at the University of New Mexico from 2015-2018 practicing full spectrum family medicine with obstetrics including operative obstetrics, reproductive health, and level 2 nursery, with focuses on substance use disorder in pregnancy/parenting and care for underserved communities. Mary Beth was an Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson Department of Family and Community Medicine from 2018-2019 prior to her transition back to Rhode Island in 2019.
Her professional interests include resident education in Family Medicine Obstetrics, breastfeeding, and substance use disorder in pregnancy and parenting. She enjoys baking, crafting, gardening, and above all spending time with her 3 children.
