Pearl Igwe, MD
Biography
Hello all!
My name’s Pearl. I was born and partially raised in Lagos, Nigeria, then immigrated and was fully raised in Miami, Florida. I then moved to St. Louis Missouri where I completed my undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis. My time in St. Louis was so special to me - it was my first time beginning to form a life of my own and really explore my interests. I majored in Psychological and Brain Sciences and minored in Biology. I was also involved in numerous volunteer groups that focused on tutoring, mentoring children in the surrounding community, and research about autism spectrum disorders. After undergrad, I moved back home to Miami and worked as an ER Scribe in Hialeah for 1 year, which was an enlightening experience. I then moved to Washington D.C. to attend medical school at Howard University. My time in medical school was extremely formative for me, which all led me here to Rhode Island.
I am so blessed to be a part of the Brown Family Medicine Team. The faculty, residents, and overall environment have been so very warm, welcoming, and understanding. I am excited for the remainder of my time here, training with some of the best physicians I have met thus far, and cannot wait to see the Family Medicine Physician I will be at the end of this journey. My career interests include lifestyle medicine, preventative health, procedures, family planning. My non-career interests involve: reading, walking, going to the beach, lounging by any body of water, working out, pretending I’m a sims character, listening to music, exploring the local city foods/nature/art, and I’m excited to explore Providence!
